My experience tours of Sicily and beyond that I host are not food tours, they are culture tours. And if you’ve been to Italy, you know that one of the most important things in the Italian culture is food. How do you cook the classic Italian dishes? It is only a small piece what there is to learn about Italy’s culture of food. It’s fascinating for my guests to learn how Italians think about food and just how differently they think about food than we do in America. We will find ourselves listening to the locals. On my tours, you will meet and listen to the mothers and grandmothers, uncles and nonnos.. who cook the food that comes directly from the land.
They’ll tell you about their lives, their politics, and their feelings about us. It’s really amazing to get past Food and into the culture, but through the gateway of Food.
I only have a few spaces left for Sicily, The Wild West! Oct 28-Nov 4.
It is an amazing and immersive journey from Palermo, down the West Coat including Trapani, Marsala, Sciacca, Menfi, We have a day trip into the Sicani mountains where will lunch with a Shaman, and we will visit Corleone where we will learn the myths, realities and about current life in the charming town…
“The trip was fantastic. Sicily is a wonderful place to visit, and one could spend much more time there. It has an incredible food culture, we ate and drank at many marvelous meals, it has great scenic beauty, historical treasures, and lovely, friendly people. Ric has indefatigable energy, great relationships with local people, and he is knowledgeable, nice and committed to everyone enjoying themselves.”
October I’m working on the 2026 schedule now.
